Overbach Castle (Much)

Burg Overbach is a moated castle house located in Much in the Rhein-Sieg district in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Burg Overbach was first mentioned in 1487 with Heinrich von Overbach.
The last noble owner with a castle seat was Johann Friedrich von Omphal. He sold the castle to Dr. Sybertz of Cologne, who passed it on to Johann Adolf Sauer, the mayor of Much. In 1685, the castle was renovated.
Heinrich Joseph Joesten died here in 1829. His descendants sold the castle around 1870 to Pastor Bloch.
At the end of the 19th century, Count von Nesselrode acquired the castle from a banking house. Around 1910, it was leased by Karl Lüdenbach, whose son-in-law Wilhelm Willmund then became the last agricultural tenant of the castle.
Since 1984, the Golfclub Burg Overbach has owned the grounds, operating an 18-hole golf course on 80 hectares in addition to a restaurant.
