Oberrommental Castle
Oberrommental Castle is a vanished hilltop castle on a 553.4 m above sea level high hill in the Schlater Forest near the hamlet of Rommental in the municipality of Schlat in the Göppingen district in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was built around 1250 by the Spitzberg-Helfenstein ministeriales, the Knights of Böhringen, presumably to monitor an early trade route from Oberböhringen to Süßen, which connected Ulm and Schwäbisch Gmünd. In 1396, the castle was sold to the Imperial City of Ulm.
The castle site, on which a forest worker's hut is located, still shows the neck ditch and minor wall remains, including a shield wall.
