Niederkastenholz Castle
Niederkastenholz Castle is a former moated castle in the Euskirchen district of Niederkastenholz (Burgstraße 19) in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The manorial lordship of the moated castle and the village of Niederkastenholz, belonging to the Imperial Abbey of Kornelimünster, which was directly subject to the Holy Roman Empire and under the protection of the Duke of Jülich, is attested in the 11th century. It remained a "beneficium" of the monastic provosts until its secularization in 1804. In 1807, it was sold by the French domain administration, along with its associated lands, to the Lords of Vincke in Flamersheim and subsequently passed into bourgeois ownership.

The oldest part of the castle complex, with its main and outer bailey made of quarry stone masonry, which is clearly visible from its wrought-iron gate, is the defensive tower from the 12th century. The L-shaped main castle was supplemented between 1752 and 1756 by the attached so-called Provostry. Only a part of the moat, which was filled in during the 19th century, remains. Today, the castle still presents an imposing image of an 18th-century rural castle complex.
