Neudenstein Castle

The present castle rises on an irregular, varied floor plan. The inner courtyard is enclosed by wings of different heights. On the round-arched south portal, the coat of arms of Baron Johann Karl Kemeter and his wife Baroness von Pranckh is affixed with an inscription stone from 1675. Above the courtyard-side archway, the years 1329 and 1673 can be seen. On three sides of the courtyard, there are column arcades from the 16th century on the first and second floors.

On the first floor of the south wing, the ceiling of the central room is decorated with stucco panels from the late 17th century. Putti heads with festoons are depicted on them. The wall is decorated with Roman emperor busts from the late 17th century, which probably symbolize the three ages of man, and with painted flowers, garlands, and medallions. In the same room hang two canvas paintings by Antonio Biepo, painted in 1682 or 1687, depicting the fall of Icarus and the fall of Phaeton from the sun chariot.

The eastern hunting room has a coffered ceiling and a Biedermeier stove; another Biedermeier stove with acanthus decoration is in the western room.

In the central room of the second floor, putti with the four seasons are depicted in stucco panels. The canvas paintings by Antonio Biepo show Orpheus in the Underworld, putti with the four elements, and Aeneas with Anchises fleeing burning Troy.

The castle chapel with a projecting apse is located on the second floor of the east wing. The flat-ceilinged room is broken through on the east wall with a pointed arch to the polygonal, ribbed-vaulted apse. Remains of Gothic wall painting have been preserved in the arch soffit. On the left, the evangelist symbols and two saints are depicted. On the right, a fragment of the Annunciation from the 14th century is visible, above it the Apostle Andrew from the second half of the 15th century. On the left apse wall, the Deësis, the Lamentation of Christ, and a donor family from the second half of the 15th century are reproduced. The scenic stained glass was made in Tyrol in the 20th century.

The column retable altar with side parts over a plinth and a broken segmental pediment with a simple trefoil frame as a superstructure dates from the third quarter of the 17th century. The altar painting depicts Saints Catherine, Ursula, and Barbara, and the superstructure painting depicts the Holy Family. The altar is crowned by a Holy Spirit dove. The painted antependium, created around 1700, depicts Saint Ursula. The church pews were assembled from parts of a cabinet from 1695.
