Krumau Castle

The castle was built in the 12th century and first mentioned in a document in 1168/1172 as "Prunricus de Crumbenow". From 1261 until her death in 1267, Margarethe of Austria lived in the castle after the separation from her husband Pfzemysl Ottokar II. In 1437, extensions and renovations were carried out. In 1540, the castle was owned by the Lords of Puchheim. In 1619, the castle was destroyed and in 1620 occupied by Bouquoy under imperial protection. In 1667-68, the castle was rebuilt. In 1778, the castle was again destroyed and subsequently rebuilt. Ownership changed in 1814 to the Lords of Pereira - Arnstein, in 1842 - 76 to Franz Ritter von Andrae, in 1916 to the Counts Gudenus and in 1976 to Wolfgang Jonke.
