Hohenberg Castle
Hohenberg Castle, also known as the Upper Castle, Hohenburg Palace, and Schurkenturm, is a ruin of a hilltop castle at 427 m above sea level in the city of Horb am Neckar (Bußgasse) in the district of Freudenstadt (Baden-Württemberg).
The castle was built around 1300 as the "Upper Castle" at the highest point of the city as part of the city fortifications.
Of the former castle, the keep, known as the Schurkenturm, with some wall remains and the castle garden, are still preserved. The "Schurkenturm" served as a prison in the 18th and 19th centuries and has been used as a club house for the Swabian Alb Association since 1973.
