Hatzenturm Castle
The Hatzenturm is a tower castle on a 580 m above sea level high slope edge in the Hatzenturm district of the municipality of Wolpertswende in the Ravensburg district in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was presumably built in 1128 (a Filius Hattonis was mentioned) by the Knights of Hatzenturm, a sideline of the Lords of Fronhofen, who called themselves Königsegg from the middle of the 13th century. In 1419, Hans von Königsegg, son of Eberhard, sold Hatzenturm Castle and the church patronage of Wolpertswende to the Heilig-Geist-Spital Ravensburg. The 18-meter-high residential tower (keep) of the tower castle has a base area of 9 by 9 meters and a wall thickness of 2.50 meters.
