To be privately owned
Elmpt Castle

Probably in the 15th century, Elmpt Manor was built. Around 1790, Elector Karl Theodor, Count Palatine of the Rhine and Duke of Jülich, Cleves and Berg, elevated the Elmpt family to the rank of count. He confirmed the coat of arms of the von Elmpt family, who could now add the Imperial Count's crown to their emblem. In 1916, the former mayor of the town acquired the property, and in the 1960s, the municipality of Elmpt came into possession of Elmpt House.
At the end of 1971, the house was then handed back to a member of the von Elmpt family. Today, Elmpt House is privately owned and a visit is only possible from the street or from the adjacent properties.
