Eich Castle

A castle is mentioned as early as 1324. Until 1420, it was owned by Hermann von Udenheim. Afterwards, ownership transferred to Count Palatine Ludwig III. In 1689, the castle was burned down to the tower by French troops during the War of the Palatine Succession and subsequently rebuilt.

The castle complex consists of several buildings from different eras, reflecting its long history. The main tower, a massive keep, dates back to the 14th century and is the oldest part of the complex. It offers a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.

The Main Building

The main building, rebuilt after the fire of 1689, features elements of Baroque architecture. Its stately facade and spacious interiors are characteristic of the period. Inside, visitors can admire historical furnishings and art.

The Chapel

The castle chapel, consecrated in 1550, is a small but significant part of the complex. It houses impressive frescoes and a valuable altar. Regular services and cultural events are held here.

Today, the castle serves as a museum and event venue. It hosts various exhibitions, concerts, and medieval festivals throughout the year. The castle grounds are also popular for weddings and private celebrations.
