Dinslaken Castle
Dinslaken Castle was the starting point for the development of the city of Dinslaken. The castle belonged to the Counts of Cleves and was first mentioned in a document in 1163 and further expanded around 1420.
In 1627, it was conquered and burned down by Dutch troops during the Eighty Years' War, but later rebuilt. In 1770, the castle tower was severely damaged by lightning. Today, the castle is part of city life, housing parts of the town hall, the registry office, and the city archive. On one side of the castle is the open-air stage of the Dinslaken Castle Theater.
