Aull Castle

The Old Castle, formerly Aull Manor, is a medieval moated castle in Aull in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The origins of the former moated castle lie in the second half of the 13th century. In 1284, the castle was first mentioned in a document as property of the ministerial family Helfenstein. Nothing remains of this earlier castle.
The current portal is dated to 1558. Further alterations changed the castle's appearance until the 18th century.

The current small castle complex features late Gothic architecture and is one of the last examples of Rhenish half-timbered castles. The castle is privately owned and inhabited.
