The Böhlausche Freihaus+
The Böhlausche Freihaus was the town house of the lords of Döben Castle, the von Böhlau family, since 1783.
History+
The Freihaus is one of the oldest buildings in Grimma. Its origins date back to the 13th century. The current building was constructed in the Renaissance style in 1570. It was extensively renovated in 1783 and 1830.

Architecture+
The Böhlausche Freihaus is a three-story building with a saddle roof. The facade is adorned with a Renaissance portal and several bay windows. Inside, there are valuable stucco ceilings and wall paintings.
Current Use+
Today, the Böhlausche Freihaus houses the city library and the city archive. It is also used for cultural events.
