The former Benedictine monastery, later a convent for Augustinian canonesses, is located in the municipality of Coesfeld in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is a historical site that played a significant role in regional church history over centuries.
History+
The foundation of Hohenholte Monastery took place in 1142 as a settlement for Benedictine monks. As early as 1188, the institution was transformed into a convent for Augustinian canonesses. In 1557, it underwent another conversion into a secular women's collegiate foundation. The foundation was finally dissolved in 1811. Among the last canonesses was Jenny von Droste zu Hülshoff, the sister of the renowned poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff.

The former monastery church, a baroque hall church, now serves as a parish church. Inside, a crucifixion relief from around 1530/40 and the epitaph of Prioress Richmond von Warendorp can be found. To the west of the church, a single-story chapter house adjoins.
