Niederaltaich Abbey

The Benedictine monastery of Niederaltaich, located in Deggendorf, Bavaria, is a historic structure that has existed since the 8th century and is dedicated to Saint Maurice. It is considered one of the significant architectural monuments in the region.

The foundation of Niederaltaich Monastery took place between 731 and 741. It was established as a Benedictine monastery and evolved over the centuries into an important religious and cultural center. In 1803, the monastery was dissolved as part of the secularization.
