Benediktinerkloster (Bad) Iburg

The founding of Iburg Monastery took place in the years 1080/1081. It was affiliated with the Benedictine Order and developed into an important religious center. The monastery was consecrated under the patronage of Clement I, Mary, Blaise, and Nicholas, highlighting the veneration of several saints. Over the centuries, the monastery played a role in the cultural and economic development of the surrounding area until it was dissolved in 1803 as part of the secularization.

The monastery is situated in Bad Iburg, a town in the southern part of the Osnabrück district in Lower Saxony, Germany. The geographical location in the Osnabrücker Land is characterized by a hilly landscape.

After its dissolution in the early 19th century, the monastery was repurposed. The preserved structural elements still bear witness to the former grandeur and significance of the complex and are a testament to medieval monastic architecture.
