Beginenhof Deilinghofen

The origins of the Beginenhof likely date back to 1564, when a community of women, following the model of medieval Beguines, was established in a predecessor building. This community was often inaccurately referred to by the local population as a nunnery. In 1638, the sisters' house suffered a severe blow when 40 of the women living there succumbed to the plague. The few survivors subsequently abandoned the house. From 1655, the building was used by the Protestant St. Stephanus parish as a rectory. A significant figure was Pastor Wilhelm Dümpelmann, who, from 1765, reorganized the parish following the example of the Moravian Church. In the 20th century, the house was sold and has since been used as a private residence.

The building is located in Deilinghofen, a district of Hemer in the Märkischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is situated at Pastoratstraße 7, not far from St. Stephanus Church.

Today, the Beginenhof Deilinghofen is a privately used residential building and has been a listed architectural monument of the city of Hemer since 1983.
