Augustinerchorherrenstift Öhningen (zuvor möglicherweise Benediktinerkloster)

The foundation of Öhningen Monastery is attributed to the year 965, when Count Kuno established it as a Benedictine monastery. Augustinians were already present before 1145, and from 1378, the institution was officially managed as an Augustinian Canons Regular foundation under the patronage of the Diocese of Konstanz. As a result of the secularization wave triggered by the French Revolution, the dissolution of the monastery occurred between 1802 and 1805. Over the centuries, the monastery underwent various construction phases. A new building was mentioned as early as 1188, and a new convent building was erected in 1516. The collegiate church of St. Hippolyt and Verena was rebuilt between 1604 and 1626 in the Late Renaissance style under Prince-Bishop Jakob Fugger von Kirchberg. After war damage, Prince-Bishop Johannes Franz Vogt von Altensummerau und Praßberg had the upper bailiff's residence rebuilt.

The former Öhningen Monastery is situated in the municipality of Öhningen in the district of Konstanz, in southern Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

The historical buildings of the monastery have been preserved to this day. The former collegiate church now serves as the Catholic Parish Church of St. Hippolyt and Verena. The monastery's former bailiwick was extensively renovated in 2004 and now houses the municipal town hall.
