The historic building was first mentioned in 1566 as being owned by the Schnabel von Schönstein family.
In 1610, the building was acquired by the noble family von Mayrhofen, who had been elevated to the nobility in 1589 and were given the predicate "von Kampill" in 1607. The family owned the building until 1792.
In the 17th century, the building was expanded and renovated. The exact date is not known, but it is believed to have been around 1680. The building was given its present appearance at that time.
In 1792, the building was sold to the noble family von Arz, who owned it until 1821.
In 1821, the building was acquired by the noble family von Troyer, who owned it until 1901.
In 1901, the building was sold to the city of Bolzano, which used it as a school building.
In 1970, the building was extensively renovated and converted into a cultural center.
Since 2000, the building has been owned by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and is used as an office building.
Architecture+
The historic building is a three-story building with a hipped roof. The facade is structured by corner quoins and window frames. The windows are rectangular and have a simple design.
The main entrance is on the north side of the building and is emphasized by a portal. The portal is made of marble and is decorated with the coat of arms of the von Mayrhofen family.
The interior of the building has been extensively renovated and modernized. However, some historical elements have been preserved, such as the vaulted ceilings in the basement and the wooden ceilings on the upper floors.
