Ehrentreiz Palais

The historic building was constructed by Marx Treytz-Saurwein. In 1645, ownership transferred to Johann von Castilli, in the 18th century to the Imperial Counts of Lodron, and in 1938 to the City of Innsbruck.

The building is a prime example of Renaissance architecture, characterized by its robust stone masonry and elegant arcades. The main facade features a prominent bay window, adorned with intricate carvings depicting local flora and fauna.

Interior Design

Inside, the building boasts a grand hall with a coffered ceiling and a large fireplace. Several rooms retain their original stucco decorations and frescoes, offering a glimpse into the artistic tastes of past centuries. The chapel, located on the second floor, contains a valuable altar piece from the 17th century.

Extensive restoration work was carried out between 2005 and 2010 to preserve the building's historical integrity. These efforts focused on reinforcing the structural elements, conserving the delicate frescoes, and restoring the original color schemes of the interior spaces. Modern amenities were discreetly integrated to ensure the building's functionality for contemporary use.

Current Use

Today, the historic building serves as a cultural center, hosting various exhibitions, concerts, and public events. It also houses a small museum dedicated to the history of Innsbruck and the building's former inhabitants. The premises are open to the public during specific hours, and guided tours are available upon request.
