Old Castle Höfles

In contrast to its name "Old Castle", the manor house on Höfleser Hauptstraße only has a young history. It was only in 1762 that Margarete Felicitas Scheller built a manor house as a simple two-story sandstone building with volute gables. A predecessor building cannot be proven. The seat remained in the possession of the Nuremberg merchant family until 1810. In that year, the Nuremberg merchant Johann Andreas Stellwag acquired the estate for 8,325 guilders, which included, in addition to the two-story residential building "built entirely of stone", a barn, a stable, a baking oven, a pigsty, a pump well and a summer house, as well as gardens, fields and meadows and a right to wood in the Sebalder Forest. Stellwag, who had also acquired a second property in Höfles from the Scheller heirs, leased the estate for 250 guilders annually and bequeathed it by will to the merchant's wife Maria Katharina Roth, who appears to have been in possession of the small castle since 1832.

In addition to the manor house, a garden house (the old summer house?) and the gate entrance made of rusticated sandstone pillars with ball finials have been preserved. The small castle is now used as an inn ("Zum Alten Schloss").
