The Hessenhof+
The Hessenhof was built around 1220-30 and served as the administrative seat of the Landgraves of Thuringia until 1241, from 1360 of the Landgraves of Hesse, and from 1551 as the dower house of Elisabeth of Rochlitz, sister of Landgrave Philip of Hesse. During the meeting of the Schmalkaldic League in 1537, the building served as a negotiation venue for the Protestant theologians. In 1837, the house was rebuilt and in 1977 it was restored.
