Itzehoe Palais

The Itzehoe Manor House was a manor house with its own jurisdiction from 1625. In 1657, the manor burned down in the Dano-Swedish War. In 1707, it was rebuilt by the district administrator and bailiff Nikolaus Heinrich Masius. From 1808, the manor was used as an orphanage and girls' school by the Itzehoe Monastery. In 1825, the manor served as the official residence of the district administrators of the Steinburg district. From 1867 to 1897, the district administration office of the Steinburg district was housed in the manor. From 1984, the manor stood empty due to severe damage to the building fabric caused by dry rot and was renovated from 2010 to 2011. Since 2011, the manor has been used as a restaurant by the Glückstädter Werkstätten.
