The Adelshof was built in 1706 on the foundations of a previous building.

From Medieval Origins to Baroque Splendor

Archaeological findings indicate that the site was already settled in the early Middle Ages. The first documented mention of a fortified building dates back to the 13th century. Over the centuries, the property changed hands multiple times, with each owner leaving their architectural mark.

The current building, a magnificent example of Baroque architecture, was commissioned by the noble family von und zu Adelshof. The construction period, from 1706 to 1710, saw the creation of a three-winged complex with an impressive main facade facing the market square.

Originally serving as the residence of the noble family, the Adelshof underwent various changes in use throughout its history.

Noble Residence and Administrative Seat

For over 150 years, the Adelshof was the center of the family's life and their administrative seat. Important decisions for the region were made here, and numerous festivities were celebrated within its walls.

From Barracks to Museum
